Blogging is definately something very new to me. However, it is a fascinately medium that obviously is being used arounf the world for any number of reasons. In the context of leadership training and neighborhood issues there are some organizations that appear to be using blogging quite effectively.
For example, ACORN the scurge of the Republican Party features blogging on their web page as a means for organizers and activists to engage in communication around leadership training and neighborhood issues. The founder of ACORN Wade Radthe (sp?) does a running commentary on various events and encourages people to post their comments and to enage in conversation. One thing that caught me eye was a discussion about the development of organizers. He featured a summary of a presentation from an Bank HRrepresentative who had shared how they encourage their managers to move every few years as their grow their responsibilities and skills. It keeps them freshIwould have never thought about linking job development for an organizer to that of a bank manager, but hey there it was on ACORNapos;s blog. It got me thinking about taking my own development more seriously.
Rob Morris, our instructional technology professor, has encourage reading Will Richardsonapos;s book on blogging and wiki. I ordered the book and in my next posting Iapos;ll share some thoughts from my initial readings. In the mean time, if anyone is reading my blog, Iapos;d like to hear from you about any experiences youapos;ve had with blogging.
